Hutong School is officially the best Mandarin school
During June and July, the people of Beijing voted on the annual That’s Beijing Lifestyle Awards. With categories in food, drinks, entertainment, language learning, and many more, this award is the most encompassing of all the expat oriented awards in the city. Voting takes place on their website and on WeChat, and the results are published in the August magazine when all votes have been counted.
We were thrilled to learn that we had been nominated in the category of Mandarin School of the Year! There are a lot of Mandarin schools in Beijing so getting the recognition as one of the best mandarin schools was already pretty exciting.
As the award announcement drew closer we started getting really curious. It was clear from the WeChat voting that we had a lot of support from our wonderful students and alumni, but the website votes were kept secret so as not to spoil the surprise.
Finally, the award show night came and we could finally see which school was the most popular and seen as the best Mandarin school amongst “Beijingers”.
And the winner is…Drum roll please…
HUTONG SCHOOL
We already said it before, but we want to say it again: THANK YOU to all our amazing students and alumni for supporting us, and for staying in touch with us over the years to form the Hutong community. We have already taught Mandarin Chinese to foreigners for 11 years and we are looking forward to the next 11 with so much excitement and energy.
If you are an alumnus/a: come back, we miss you!
If you are a current student: thanks for being awesome and making our jobs a joy
If you have not yet had your Hutong experience: get in touch, we have a China adventure waiting for you. To read more about why a full immersion program is the best way to learn a new language, check out this great article at Zhong Wen Central.
