Clean up and cash in: Find things that you don’t use anymore, from clothing to sofas and sell them on eBay or in a garage sale. It’s a great way to get some cash while cleaning up your living space.
Have a bake sale: If you like to cook, you can hold a bake sale. You can make brownies, doughnuts, biscuits, cupcakes, … Who doesn’t love sweets?
Get a part-time job: The easiest way to save some money is to get a part-time job. If you work a few nights a week or during a holiday, you could earn enough money to fund your trip to China.
Have a party: There are many ways to throw a party. Just make sure you end up earning money, not losing.
Raffle away: Another fun way to collect money is to organize a raffle. You can ask local businesses to donate prices. After that, you can create raffle tickets and sell them to your neighbors, family, classmates, friends, etc.
Collect your change: Drop your change in a big jar after each day’s end. Small amounts can really add up!
Car wash: If the weather is nice, you can always organize a car wash in your neighborhood, at your workplace, a local restaurant or school. Make sure people know what you are trying to collect money for so you can ask for extra donations or tips.
Ask money instead of gifts: You can ask your friends and family to give money instead of presents. In that way, they don’t have to worry about what to buy and you can save the money for your trip.
Scholarships and Grants: Finding scholarships online is another great way of trying to fund your trip abroad! Hutong School has a list of schools and programs that offer lots of scholarships and grants to help those who are interested in studying abroad.
Bonus tip: Go Fund Me! Start a gofundme page so that your friends and family members can contribute directly to your trip. It’s a great way to explain your reasons and attract donations.
