What to sing at Chinese KTV


If you have been to China, you know how much Chinese people love KTV.

Karaoke offers the perfect atmosphere to spend a fun night with friends, but surprisingly, you might also be asked to join a KTV night by your boss, client, or business partner!

For foreigners, it can sound strange to sing in front of someone you have a professional relationship with, but this is one of the great things about working in China. Activities such as KTV are considered the perfect opportunity to strengthen business relationships. So… grab the microphone and get ready to sing your heart out!

To help prepare yourself for such an event, the first thing to do is to become familiar with some of China’s most popular songs.

All KTV places have a wide range of international artists, but it wouldn’t be a proper KTV without singing at least one song in Chinese!

The Moon Represents My Heart – Teresa Teng





Let’s start with one of the most well-known songs in China! “The Moon Represents My Heart”, made famous by Teresa Teng. It’s a slow-moving ballad with relatively simple lyrics, making it a good choice for first-timers. You really can’t go wrong with this KTV classic!



Tong Hua – Guang Liang

This is another romantic, well-known song in China. The title means “Fairytale”.

The pace is slow and relaxed, so you can start you karaoke career with something simple and not very demanding.



Huoyuanjia Fearless – Jay Chou


Ready to pump up the night? If you want something more energetic, try this song that’s about strength and kung fu. It was in the soundtrack of Jet Li’s movie “Fearless”. It’s not a very difficult song to sing, but it still has a good rhythm. It’s the perfect choice to impress your audience with your confidence and determination.


Zhongguo Hua – S.H.E.


Do you consider yourself a Chinese language master? Then the masterpiece from this Taiwanese group shouldn’t scare you! It’s very fast paced song and full of Chinese tongue twisters.
