Starting from June, our friends at English Trackers and the Bookworm will be hosting a series of Translation Slams, with the first one on Wednesday June 1st. A festival favorite, two translators go head to head, comparing their translations of a text (microfiction, blog posts, columns, poetry, and more) and fielding questions from the audience. At the end of the event, the audience votes for the best translation. Running every other month, the Translation Slam will feature different translators, texts and languages each time. Tomorrow, they kick off with Jonathan Rechtman and Canaan Morse translating a text by renowned columnist Li Haipeng.
Location: The Bookworm
Time: 7:30 pm, Wednesday June 1st.
Price: 30RMB
Language lovers join us Wednesday June 1st for a fascinating battle between two translators as they defend their choice of words.
