Ahmet Güleç, Chairman of the Istanbul Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters’ Association and Chairman of the Furniture Associations Federation (MOSFED), told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the furniture industry contributes significantly to the country’s economy by creating added value at the furniture production facility in Bursa’s İnegöl district.
Pointing out that the perception of “Turkish furniture” has moved to very good places in the world, Güleç expressed that export figures also support this.
Güleç stated that in the first 5 months of 2021, exports of furniture, paper and forestry products increased by 28 percent to 2.6 billion, “We increased our May exports in furniture by over 48 percent. “We have already surpassed it. I believe that the future will be much brighter and more promising for us after the vaccination works. We will see bright days in terms of Turkey’s general export and furniture export.” used the phrases.

Pointing out that the Turkish furniture industry exports to 200 countries, Güleç said:
“We are growing very fast in exports to the USA. Our export figure is increasing by more than 50 percent in 5 months. Our target is to export 1 billion dollars to the US market as soon as possible. We aim to increase this to 3 billion dollars in 2023. This figure is very important for us. . We have other factors to feed this. We will create campaigns related to the promotion of logistics centers and Turkish furniture and reach the target of 3 billion dollars. In Europe, we show rapid growth in Germany and the Netherlands. Our growth continues in the Middle East markets, which are our classical markets. ‘This product is Turkey’ When we say, ‘It came from Turkey’, we pave the way for other products. Because we make living spaces beautiful. In the last 20 years, Turkish furniture has made a name for itself with its quality and design.”
Explaining that this export rate continued after the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19) epidemic, Güleç said, “In 2019, we achieved the title of the country that increased its exports the most in the world furniture sector. With this figure, we became the 8th in the world. Our target is among the top 5 exporting countries in the world. We are getting closer to our goals step by step.” Said

Stating that the world is going through a serious change and transformation, Güleç stated that every country wants to get a share from world trade.
Expressing that Turkey’s target is the same, Güleç stated that they contribute to this as the furniture industry.
Güleç said, “As the furniture industry, we had a share of 1 percent of the world trade pie in 2007, but we increased it to 2 percent in 2019. It is not easy to increase it by 2 times. Our goal is to dominate 5 percent of the world trade pie in furniture. There is a new period ahead. Markets “Let’s transform and expand. Let’s go digital and strengthen our digital transformation. Let’s adopt this as a lifestyle. As we go digital, our export figures with e-commerce will triple,” he said. he said.
